Every year, the street stalls of Bangkok generate a turnover of more than 54,750 million baht, quelling the hunger and quenching the thirst of the city’s inhabitants.
This “eat-all-day” obsession has created Bangkok’s renowned 24/7 city-wide buffet, and along with it countless food, packaging and catering innovations. Low cost, and adapted from everyday objects, these designs for better eating show off Thai common sense and quirkiness. Behind them are some of the city’s most successful business stories.
What opportunities lie hidden in a nation’s quest for quick bites, day and night? Discover how sidewalk entrepreneurs have transformed their sales through wok-grown marketing strategies. Be inspired by the rags-to-riches story of the fruit cart franchise which grew from great granddaddy’s hawker basket into one of the capital’s biggest street fruit vendors.
Marvel at the ingenuity of the humble street cart, exploded to expose its design matrix. And listen to 1,600 curbside vendors and customers share their complaints with ABAC Poll, in the biggest survey of how people really want to eat in Bangkok.
